Castiglion del Bosco is located in one of the largest private estates in Tuscany, founded by Massimo and Chiara Ferragamo. Within the UNESCO Natural and Cultural Park of the Val d’Orcia, this estate is ennobled by nine centuries of history and surrounded by rolling wooded hills, extensive vineyards and farmland dotted with ancient farmhouses.
The Borgo - It's the main hub of activities at Castiglion del Bosco. Its historic stone buildings include the medieval church of San Michele Arcangelo, with a spectacular 1345 altar fresco by Pietro Lorenzetti. The Borgo today hosts many of the estate’s amenities, such as: 42 spacious suites; 3 of the estate’s 11 restored villas; the estate’s La Canonica Cooking School; two restaurants, the Osteria La Canonica, offering a regional menu of traditional Tuscan favorites, and the Michelin-starred Ristorante Campo del Drago, the estate’s fine dining restaurant; an organic kitchen garden; and the boutique, the estate’s gift shop offering a range of specially selected craft items; the Lobby Bar, a Brunellerie and the Pool Bar, the latter with views over the Sienese countryside; two heated infinity pools and the Spa; a state-of-the-art fitness center; 24/7 reception, concierge and room services.
The Villas - In addition to the suite offering, the property’s 11 one-of-a-kind luxury villas, scattering the Tuscan landscape, offer guests an unparalleled oasis to retreat to. These lovingly restored private homes provide luxurious lodging and are crafted from 17th- and 18th-century Tuscan farmhouses. They feature fully equipped kitchens by Florence interior designer Riccardo Barthel, heated infinity pool, terraces and gardens with views of the surrounding countryside. A few Villas also boast pizza fire ovens and tennis courts.
The Spa - Located at the heart of the borgo, The Spa offers treatments of renowned Florentine apothecary Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella for an experience of new-found grace, glow and equilibrium.
The Tuscan Experience - Castiglion del Bosco offers a variety of activities and excursions highlighting different aspects of the region’s history, land and culture. Among the activities that help guests enter into the heart and soul of Tuscany: landscape painting classes, truffle-hunting expeditions and visits to local events such as Siena’s world-famous Palio horse race. Other activities include biking, hiking, horse-back riding as well as historical tours of the nearby towns in Val d'Orcia. The 5000-acre Castiglion del Bosco estate is also home to an historical Brunello di Montalcino winery and Italy's only private golf club, which Rosewood guests have privileged access to.
