About
The North of Portugal, located about one hour away from the city of Porto, has born a Palace that gained a new life, turning up later into a luxury resort. Built in 1910 at the end of the Edwardian era, inside a wooded property of several hectares, the Vidago Palace Hotel was promptly very much appreciated by the Portuguese elite of the time, taking up shape and transforming itself into an emblematic place for a certain food and art of living certain in European culture. The fame of Vidago Palace would keep going strong for several decades, availing national and international projection.
After great works of remodeling, the hotel reopens with the splendor, the Service and friendliness that made possible its fame with the The Leading Hotels of the World. Deeply rooted in the collective memory of several generations, a legend is reborn.
The man responsible for this rebirth are interior architects - José Pedro Lopes Vieira & Diogo Rosa Lã – both who idealized the interiors decoration, along with Architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, who created the new Spa and Club House. The Hotel reminds us of the art of living of the great aristocratic houses of the Edwardian era valuing its architectural heritage. Foremen were hired among the best craftsmen of each specialty to return to the hotel its brightness and its aura.
Currently the Vidago Palace offers 70 bedrooms and suites, as several wide reception areas: conference and meeting rooms, bars, smoke room, and spacious salons for large events. All of each claims the charm and elegance, in mingle in the comfort of many details such as the quality of the fabrics (more than 100 textile references), the nobility of the materials, the softness of the carpets, the eloquence of wallpapers, the architectural wealth, the precision in the finishes. A dream scale where the art of living make perfect sense with the exquisite flavors of the local cuisine, the care of the Spa, the comfortable and elegant halls and its serene space environment.
Worthy of his heritage
Designed by the architect Alvaro Siza Vieira, the new Spa gives a new dimension to Vidago Palace. Its ultramodern structure differs radically from the classical architecture of the hotel, both abroad and inside. The surprising encounter of the two styles occurs in their complementarity. We went from a warm, cozy, for a minimalist environment.
